Every publish — to your \u003Ca href=\"\u002Fhelp\u002Fpushing-to-your-cms\">CMS\u003C\u002Fa>, to \u003Ca href=\"\u002Fhelp\u002Fpublishing-to-facebook-and-instagram\">Facebook or Instagram\u003C\u002Fa> — is a button you press.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>So what are the date fields for? They're for planning. A piece of \u003Ca href=\"\u002Fhelp\u002Fthe-unified-content-table\">content\u003C\u002Fa> has two timestamps:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cul>\n\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Scheduled At\u003C\u002Fstrong> — when you \u003Cem>intend\u003C\u002Fem> to publish it. It places the piece on the \u003Ca href=\"\u002Fhelp\u002Fthe-calendar-view\">calendar\u003C\u002Fa> so you can see your pipeline and balance the load across days.\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Published At\u003C\u002Fstrong> — when it actually went live. You can set it yourself, and it's what the calendar uses to plot already-published work.\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\u003Cp>Setting Scheduled At to next Tuesday tells you (and the calendar) "this is meant to go out Tuesday." When Tuesday comes, nothing happens automatically. You open the piece and publish it. The trade in beta: you get a clear, honest pipeline view, and you keep your hand on the trigger.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cblockquote>\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Roadmap note.\u003C\u002Fstrong> A scheduled-auto-publish loop (status + due date → publish without a click) is on the roadmap. It is not wired today. Setting the date doesn't re-push anything.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Status and dates are separate.\u003C\u002Fstrong> A piece's \u003Ca href=\"\u002Fhelp\u002Fthe-status-set\">status\u003C\u002Fa> (e.g. Testing, Production) is its own field. m18t doesn't enforce that a date and a status agree, and setting either one does not publish.
